Tradesmen business landline

A Tradesmen Business Landline That Rings the Van and Answers Like It Knows Your Trade

Every trade loses the same call: the one that comes while the tools are running, the hands are wet, the phone is in the van or there is no signal in the plant room. The caller does not leave a message; they ring the next number on Google. A tradesmen business landline gives you a local 01, 02 or 03 number for the van that rings your mobile as an ordinary call, and an AI receptionist that answers in your business name when you cannot, asks the questions your trade would ask, states the fee you have set, books into the slots you leave open and puts the urgent calls through. It is built one trade at a time: fifteen pages below, each written around the calls that trade gets. AI answering is £19.99 a month, no contract.

01 · The problem

Why a Tradesman's Phone Rings Out

An office answers its phone because someone is sat next to it. A trade does not have that person. Four reasons the call goes unanswered, none of which is laziness, and all of which happen on the same Tuesday.

On the tools

Hands full, gloves on, wet

A grinder, a saw, a pole, a paint roller or a wrench on a stopcock. The phone rings in a pocket, and by the time it is reachable the caller is talking to the next firm. The landline rings the mobile anyway, and the AI picks up the ones you cannot.

Up high

Roof, scaffold, ladder, rope

Roofers, window cleaners, tree surgeons and anyone on a scaffold cannot take a call safely and should not try. The AI takes the brief and the safety questions; you ring back from the ground with the facts in front of you.

No signal

Plant rooms, basements, valleys

The number lives in the cloud rather than on your handset, so a call your phone cannot receive under a floor or in a wooded valley is answered by the AI, and the summary is waiting when you have a bar of signal again.

Driving

Between jobs, in the van

The hour a trade spends driving each day is the hour customers ring. The AI answers, asks what the job is, states your fee and books the visit, and you read it at the next red light rather than pulling over for a number you do not recognise.

02 · Find your trade

Fifteen Trades, Fifteen Pages, One Phone System

A plumber's calls are nothing like a painter's, so each page below is built around that trade's callers: what they ring about, what the AI asks, what gets put through and what gets booked. Pick yours.

Builders

Who rings a builder and what each call is worth: extension briefs and tender calls taken while you are on site, and the week calculation that shows what unanswered ones cost.

The AI asks: what is being built, drawings or not, planning status, budget range, start date.Builder business landline ›

Plumbers

The stopcock line before the address, frozen pipes and the flat below triaged, and landlords' calls taken with the tenant's number so you are not ringing round for a key.

The AI asks: is water coming through, is the stopcock off, where the leak is, access.Plumber business landline ›

Electricians

Fault calls triaged for safety: burning smells and tripping boards put through, the rest booked with the age of the consumer unit and the certificate already noted.

The AI asks: what is tripping, any smell or heat, board age, EICR or new work.Electrician business landline ›

Heating engineers

A smell of gas gets the emergency number before anything else; no heat or hot water is triaged by season; landlord certificate renewals go into the calendar.

The AI asks: boiler make, any smell, pressure, error code, landlord or homeowner.Heating engineer business landline ›

Roofers

Forty storm calls ranked by whether water is coming in; make safe, survey and repair explained on the first call; the insurer's photos requested before anything moves.

The AI asks: water in or not, what has come off, storeys, scaffold access.Roofer business landline ›

Emergency trades

The 2am call answered and put through, the callout fee stated before the doorstep, and the race against the next number on Google won by picking up at all.

The AI asks: what has happened, is anyone in danger, the address, and puts it through if it is real.Emergency trades business landline ›

Locksmiths

Lock-outs put through with the ID rules already stated; BS3621 and anti-snap asked on every lock change; the tariff given exactly as you set it.

The AI asks: locked out or lock change, proof of address, lock type, where they are now.Locksmith business landline ›

Garages and mechanics

Registration taken first, MOTs and services booked into the lanes you leave open, and the "is it ready?" calls answered by a text from the dashboard instead of the ramp going quiet.

The AI asks: reg, make and model, what it is doing, when they need it back.Garage business landline ›

Kitchen fitters

Eight project stages, the spec taken with the units and the worktop, and no promises about delivery dates that are not yours to make.

The AI asks: who supplies the units, worktop type, what is moving, the week.Kitchen fitter business landline ›

Bathroom fitters

The suite, the tiles, whether the plumbing and electrics are moving and the week they want it done, taken while you are plumbing in somebody else's shower.

The AI asks: en-suite or family bathroom, what is moving, start date, photos by email.Bathroom fitter business landline ›

Painters and decorators

Enquiries taken room by room, eight weeks of diary shown honestly, and the extra job priced by text so nobody quotes from a ladder.

The AI asks: how many rooms, walls or woodwork too, empty or lived-in, when.Painter and decorator business landline ›

Landscapers

Projects and maintenance rounds kept separate, briefs taken with photos by email, and the rain-day text that saves a wasted morning.

The AI asks: size of plot, what they want, access for a digger, photos.Landscaper business landline ›

Tree surgeons

Asks whether the tree is protected before anything is booked; a tree on the wires gets 105; the size and the chipper access on every call.

The AI asks: TPO or conservation area, height against the house, access, where the chippings go.Tree surgeon business landline ›

Cleaning companies

Answered at 6am and 9pm: a Tuesday timeline, the office contract brief emailed, the end-of-tenancy clean booked for Friday.

The AI asks: domestic or commercial, size, frequency, access, what must come with the quote.Cleaning company business landline ›

Window cleaners

Round enquiries taken with the gate, the dog and the frequency, the rain line given in your words, and the round itself left where it belongs: with you.

The AI asks: property type, front and back, gate, frequency, postcode.Window cleaner business landline ›

Not on the list? Plasterers, tilers, glaziers, pest control, drainage, flooring and fencing all run on the same system; you tell the AI your trade and your questions on setup. The general page is business landline.

03 · The system

What Every Trade Page Shares

The questions change by trade. A business landline for tradesmen is the same six things underneath, whichever page you came from.

1 · The number

A local number for the van

An 01 or 02 number for the town you work in, or an 03 if you cover the country. The number you already have on the van, the website and the cards can be moved across and kept. Lite comes with two, so the van and the leaflets can differ and you can see which one rang.

2 · The divert

Rings your mobile as an ordinary call

No box on a wall, nothing to install. The landline rings your mobile wherever the van is parked, and where it rings is changed from the dashboard: to you, to whoever is on call this week, or straight to the AI when you are on a roof all day.

3 · The AI receptionist

Answers in your business name, 24 hours a day

When you cannot pick up it answers as your firm, asks the questions your trade would ask, gives the safety line first where there is one, states the callout fee or from-price you have set, and puts through the calls you have told it to put through. It never quotes work it cannot see.

4 · The diary

Bookings into the slots you allow

Quote visits and jobs go into the times you leave open, with a confirmation text to the caller. What the AI cannot know, your round, your delivery dates, which day you are on which street, it says it cannot know, and leaves for you.

5 · The summary

Every call as a text and an email

Name, number, address, what they want, what was promised, in the first line. You reply from the dashboard with plan credits, 20 texts and 50 emails a month on Lite, enough for confirmations and the occasional "the gate was bolted" message.

6 · The record

Recording and transcripts on Pro

On Pro every call is recorded and transcribed, which is what settles the "you said" conversation about a reduction, an inside clean or an extra room. Pro also carries 250 AI minutes for a crew whose phone rings all day.

04 · The alternatives

A Trades Landline Against the Alternatives

The honest version. A mobile is free and misses calls; a human answering service is excellent and priced by the call; a divert-only landline looks right and still goes to voicemail. What the AI adds is the answering, at a flat monthly price.

A human answering service is the right choice for a firm that takes complex calls all day and can pay per call for it. For a trade whose calls are short, specific and arrive at the worst moment, the AI does the same job at a price that does not change in a storm week.

05 · Setup

How It Goes Live

No engineer, no hardware, no contract. Three things, and the next call is answered.

1

Choose or move your number

Pick a number for your town, 0161, 0121, 029, whichever you work in, or an 03. If the number on the van is one you already own, it is moved across instead.

2

Tell it your trade

Your business name, your callout fee or from-prices, the slots you leave open, what gets put through to you and what gets booked, and the lines you want said first: gas smell, water in, is the tree protected, do you still come in the rain. It is your wording.

3

Put the phone in the van

The landline rings your mobile. When you cannot pick up, the AI answers in your name, and the summary is a text and an email before you are back on the ground. Change where it rings, reply to callers and read the summaries from the dashboard.

06 · Plans

Tradesmen Business Landline Prices

The AI receptionist is on Lite, Pro and Enterprise. All plans are monthly with no contract, and a year paid up front is 25% off. AI minute packs are there for the storm week, the boiler season and the October gutter rush.

What Tradespeople Say

★★★★★
Every leak call now starts the same way whether I pick up or the AI does: is the water off. I got the idea from the plumber page and it has stopped more damage than any tool in the van.
Gary, plumber, Birmingham
★★★★★
Storm week: forty-odd calls, every one answered and ranked by whether water was coming in. I worked down the list from the top instead of answering whoever rang loudest.
Lisa, roofing contractor, Newcastle
★★★★★
Tripping boards and burning smells come straight through to me. Everything else is booked with the board age noted, so I know before I go whether it is a fuse or a fuse box.
Jon, electrician, Leeds
★★★★★
Extension enquiries arrive with drawings-or-not, planning status and a budget range already on them. I ring back once, with a quote visit, instead of three times with questions.
Dave, builder, Manchester
★★★★★
Six in the morning and nine at night, both answered. An office contract brief landed in my inbox while I was mopping a car showroom.
Priya, cleaning company, Trafford
★★★★★
Lock-outs are put through with the ID rules already said. I have stopped explaining on doorsteps why I need to see a letter with the address on.
Mark, locksmith, Sheffield
★★★★★
The gas-smell line goes first, every time, before the address is even taken. That is the one thing I needed it never to get wrong, and it never has.
Sam, heating engineer, Bristol
★★★★★
Projects and maintenance rounds are kept apart on the brief now, and the photos arrive by email before I drive anywhere. The rain-day text alone saves me a morning a month.
Tom, landscaper, Oxford
★★★★★
Room by room on the first call. I turn up to quotes knowing it is four bedrooms and a hall with the woodwork, not "the house".
Kelly, painter and decorator, Glasgow
★★★★★
Reg first, then what it is doing. The "is it ready?" calls get a text from me between jobs instead of the ramp going quiet while I explain a clutch over the phone.
Rob, garage owner, Stockport
★★★★★
The protection question is asked on every felling call before I have seen the tree. I have had one letter from a council in my life and I do not want another.
Neil, tree surgeon, Norwich
★★★★★
It takes the postcode and says I will confirm the day. It never pretends to know my round, which is exactly why I trust it with everything else.
Carla, window cleaning round, Exeter

Questions Tradespeople Ask About a Business Landline

What is a tradesmen business landline?

A local 01 or 02 number, or a national 03, that belongs to your trade business rather than to a handset, and that rings your mobile as an ordinary call wherever you are working. Nothing is installed and there is no line rental. With the AI receptionist on, the calls you cannot take are answered in your business name: the caller is asked the questions your trade would ask, told your fee, booked into a slot you allow or put through to you, and you get the summary as a text and an email.

Which trades does it work for?

The fifteen with their own pages above, and any trade where a missed call is a lost job. On setup you tell the AI your trade and your questions; a plasterer starts from the builder's set and trims it, a drainage firm starts from the plumber's. The questions, the safety lines and the fees are yours to set and change from the dashboard.

Can I keep the number on the van?

Yes. A UK 01, 02 or 03 number you already own is moved across to Team-Connect, so the van, the website and the cards stay as they are. If you are starting from a mobile, you choose a local number for your town and keep the mobile for everything else.

Do I need an app or an internet connection to take calls?

No. The landline rings your mobile as an ordinary phone call, so it works wherever your mobile does. The dashboard, which you open in a browser, is where you change where calls ring, read the summaries (and transcripts on Pro), and reply to callers; it is not needed to receive a call.

What does the AI do that voicemail does not?

Answer. A homeowner with a leak or a locked door does not leave a message; they ring the next firm. The AI picks up in your business name, asks what the job is in the way your trade would, gives the safety line where there is one, states the fee you have set, books the visit or puts the call through, and texts you the lot. The caller has been dealt with, and you have the facts before you ring back.

Does it answer at night and at the weekend?

Yes, at any hour. What happens next is your rule: an emergency trade has the 2am burst pipe put through and the dripping tap booked for the morning; a kitchen fitter has everything booked for office hours. You can also switch the divert straight to the AI from the dashboard for a day on a roof or a week off.

Does it take over calls I could have answered?

No. The landline rings your mobile first. The AI answers when you do not pick up, when you are already on a call, or when you have sent calls to it on purpose. If you answer, it is a normal call on your mobile, and nothing about the AI is involved.

How much does a tradesmen business landline cost?

Lite, at £19.99 a month, is where the AI receptionist starts: 30 AI minutes, 250 incoming minutes, two numbers and text and email credits. Pro at £79.99 adds call recording, transcripts and 250 AI minutes for a crew. Enterprise at £199.99 is ten numbers and 750 AI minutes for a firm in several towns. Starter at £9.99 is a diverted number with voicemail and no AI. Everything is monthly with no contract, and a year paid up front is 25% off.
